Internet slowness

Well......now I am a college student, and unfortunately must deal with their internet service. I am getting 350 kbs down, and.....4000 kbs UP!!! Besides that peculiar number, I noticed that online videos no longer work...they do not even load, and this the same problem for everyone. Pages load relatively fast....but the damn videos and bittorent do not work (I do not use it for illegal activities...you can only download some programs like Bleach through it). Anyone have an idea why their internet service, or router hates videos and bittorent?

Is your router wireless? if so, is it secured? odds are your roommate if you have one could be using up your b/w, or you've got someone else on your connection (Especially if you're in a dorm)

It's not out of the realm of possibilities that the scholl would have blocked videos and bittorrent. Bittorrent is easy to block and my job blocks 97% of online videos despite the website. They probably do it to preserve bandwidth for everyone.
