Internet Speed Faster Than Advertised

Quick question for you. I am supposed to be getting 6MB speeds from my provider. I just ran the speakeasy speed test and the numbers are as follows:

Down: 20,285 kbps
Up: 2,191 kbps

Why would the download speed be so much faster than they advertise? I'm not complaining, believe, me.....just curious.

is your internet advertised as 6 MegaBYTE or 6 MegaBIT internet? cause that works out to be 19(or so) megaBITS and 2 megaBYTES download speed.

I am paying for 8Meg Down 1Meg Up and I got around your speeds, and today I got 30k Down 4k Up.
