intrnet connection

I was connected to internet with cable from one floor downstairs. Then I just move this cable and insert it to router and router to computer, so that now there is possibility to access to internet wirelessly. I also have to buy an adapter which is inserted in computer, because my router alone cannot create wireless connection.
But my internet connection now is worse. Internet works, but there are problems, sometimes it works slowly, and it also freezes sometimes when I watch videos.
What can I do? If I make connection like before, problems are fixed, but than I cannot have wireless connection. How is possible that just because I insert cable into router, such changes happen? Why do I even need router if adapter(which is inserted in computer) makes wireless connection?

You are most likely not getting a good wireless signal if router is downstairs. What router and wireless adapter do you have?

Router is belkin N150, adapter is WNA3100 WIFI-N300 USB NETGEAR.
But I think I did not tell clearly what is happening. I am not connected to router from one floor downstairs wirelessly, I am steel connected with wire.
What I did, I remove that internet cable from my computer, insert into router and then connect router with computer. The wireless connection is made work other machines.

So you were connected to wireless at one point and then reconnected the ethernet cable to computer? If you haven't disconnected from the wireless connection then you won't connect via the cable. You can't use 2 connections at once. What operating system do you have?

Windows 8. And the connection between me and downstairs is not wireless, at least as I understand. The point of wireless adapter is that other things can be connected.

Is is possible the router is just broken, is it possible that if I get new problems will be fixed, or router always makes some connection problems?

I've reread this post many times and still lost. You need a wireless router if you are using a wireless adapter. If you were once connected wireless and you want to connect with cable then you need to disconnect from the wireless. Your posts are very confusing. Not sure if you aren't wording them correctly or what.

Yes, possibly, because I also do not know exactly what is the case, I know what I want to say, but possible I am making some wrong assumptions.
I will try to describe once again. When about three years ago service man come to fix internet I also get the router, he say it is for wireless connection. I did not use it until now, I did not need it and was connected on internet with cable.
Now, when I tried to use it, I firstly found out that router itself cannot generate wireless connection and bought adapter. After that the wireless connection works since I was able to connect printer with my PC. I do not know if ,my PC is connected wirelessly or not, but the internet cable that was previously inserted directly in computer is now inserted into router and router is connected with my PC also with cable.
The problem is like I said that when I did that a certain problems occur(sometimes slower connections, freeze)

Your posts are confusing because you make contradicting statements.

If your PC is connected to the router with a cable then you do not need to use the wireless adapter for your PC.

You stated that your router is a Belkin N150. At one point you said that the router doesn't support wireless (that model does) but then you also stated that your printer and other machines work via wireless.

Have you tried disconnecting the wireless adapter from your PC? If you really wish to use the wireless adapter to connect to the router then you need to disconnect the cable that connects the router to the PC. You don't want both.

Well possibly that that model supports it, but when I tried it did not, until I get adapter, I do not now why.

About wireless adapter, it is not for PC it is for other machines.

I would like to make wirelesses connection in a way that internet properties will be the same. I do not need wireless connection for my PC I only want that for printer and other devices, for PC I do not need wireless connection.

The cable that you are using, are you sure its good? Try connecting up another machine to that cable and see if its reacts the same. Also try using a different cable to diagnose the issue. Has this machine ever been connected wirelessly?

Your first post is very confusing, i've read it many times and still can't understand what you are trying to do.

I was connected to internet with cable from one floor downstairs. Then I just move this cable and insert it to router and router to computer, so that now there is possibility to access to internet wirelessly.

That part above is throwing me off. What do you mean by moving the cable? Did you have a router hooked up before? What router do you have?

I also have to buy an adapter which is inserted in computer, because my router alone cannot create wireless connection.

So is the wireless adapter in your pc? Were you using wireless on this pc at any time?

But my internet connection now is worse. Internet works, but there are problems, sometimes it works slowly, and it also freezes sometimes when I watch videos.

Again, this doesn't make sense. I can only think you were working off a modem only instead of a router hooked up.

Can you explain your exact setup before and after? Did you have modem and then a cable hooked up from there to computer? Then you decided to put a wireless router in the mix and hooked a cable up from modem to router, and then router to pc? Did you hook up the router correctly? The cable from modem needs to go in a specific port called the internet/wan port usually colored differently then the other 4 ports.

Please help us figure out your situation. Your wording is very confusing.

So your saying the internet works fine with your computer connected directly to modem but it doesn't work right when you have the router connected?

Give us the model of router and wireless adapter you have so we can help you.

I'm convinced he means he's trying to create a wireless router by hooking up a wireless adapter to a wired router... which is impossible.

Wireless adapters are for the end device, not the router.

I did not have router before. My router is belkin N150.

Wireless adapter is in my PC. Like I said before I do not know where can I look if my PC use wireless connection or not.

I am pretty sure that I did hook router correctly because if I wouldn't I wouldn't get any connection.

Yes.

I am using adapter because I thought my router cannot generate wireless connection on its own, without adapter.

I am using adapter because I thought my router cannot generate wireless connection on its own, without adapter.

The "N150" in the model name indicates it supports 802.11n up to 150 Mbps, no additional 'adapter' required.

I would do the following:
-Log into the router's management portal and verify wifi settings. Please use WPA2 with a decent passphrase whenever possible.

-On the PC, view the network adapter settings (Control Panel -> Network -> Change Adapter Settings) and verify the wifi adapter is enabled

-Click the network button on the system tray to connect to the wireless network you have configured on the router

-Verify IP through CMD or unplug the wired connection and test (web/ping/etc).

When I tried to find wireless connector with mobile phone it finds it.
Do I need to have wireless connection on my PC if I want to have wireless connection for other devices?

No. Since your PC is hardwired to the router, you do not need a wireless connection.

It's an either/or situation. A device can connect to the router either by a wired connection or a wireless connection. Each device connects to the router independently from each other.

Belkin routers are garbage, especially the one you listed. It may be a router issue, it may not. Like said before, your posts are confusing so hopefully we understood you finally. Some routers will act goofy when multiple systems are attached to it. Can you borrow a router from someone to test?
