Same Issue -UNRESOLVED-
Recently I rebuilt my HTPC computer upon installing the bundled power DVD solution I had to try several disks to ensure that it was working properly; DVD’s and CD’s work without any issues. Upon inserting the 1 and only bluray disk I had the program said that there was an update available. After downloading the update the disk will not work at all giving me an error code. I noticed that during the update the patch modifies/removes some of the old files but was unable to change them giving me an error window with the options reboot/ignore/abort. I tried running msconfig to shut off all running processes but this didn’t help and the update will not go in with the original program uninstalled. On loan from a friend I tied his copy of power DVD 8 but the same basic thing seems to be happening. While the update works fine (no errors) the end result (although not an error code) is unsupported disk type error. I have taken the disk itself back to best buy and it works fine in a “stand alone” bluray player so it’s not the disk. And before the rebuild the disk itself played (program never asked me for an update until recently). Later on today I am going to try 2 things. 1 reinstall of the bundled power DVD software to provide exact error code and 2 rent a disk from Block Buster Video to see if it’s not the ROM itself…
Further more, the registration is annoying. Although I completed the form (obviously because I need to log in to submit this support case) it still pops up every time the computer is restarted no matter what I do
================UPDATE================
before the patch
Error 80040265 internal error
after the patch is installed
Error 80004003 invalid pointer
looking up the second error on Google gave me a registry modification tool to force ASPI but this patch didn't help at all
same ROM same bundled software (power DVD version 7) on a different computer with the same disk works flawlessly
