Hi. I have 2 questions.

1. I want to whatismyip.com and it gave me a different ip address from my computer (the computer gave it to me by ipconfig). Why are they different? What does it mean if they are different?

2. I went to the site http://whatismyipaddress.net and it said my host name was proxyche02 . . . but when I went to the site http://www.showmyip.com it said my assigned ip address was adsl . . .. Why are they different? What does it mean if they are different? Since the 1st one says proxy. . . does that mean I'm using a proxy?

Thanks

inside and outside IP's sounds like the conflict your having with that......whatsmyip.com will tell you your outside IP, or the IP that the world see's.......an inside IP is one that is created when you take an internet connection and share it through a device like a router, then thats your IP on that network, ipconfig will show this IP

if you go to my network places and properties of the connection you will see the default gateway, thats your outside IP address, or at least it should be

the 2 different ip's could be the proxy of your isp, when i look at websites for my ip, it usually come up with 2 different one, my actual ip, and the ntl cache.
