iphone when going abroad

im going abroad in a weeks time and i want to take my iphone but i dont want to get billed ££££ as the iphone is always on the net so to stop the iphone going on wap, gprs or 3g do you go to Settings > General and turn off Mobile Data and set Data Roaming to Off
 
You'll still get billed out the ass if you take calls or texts while you're abroad though. Be aware of that.
 
Ofcom recently changed the rules with moble phone charges abroad, so you shoudn't be charged as much as you used to. Check with your network regarding pricing.
