Ipod hard drive

Looking for a bit of advice on how to connect my ipod hard drive to my pc with out the ipod.
basically ive bought an ipod that will only work when connected to the mains power supply. the problem this causes is i dont have a spare port to connect my ipod to the PC.
I've taken a hard drive out of a case and connected it up by using an IDE to usb Cable.
I just wondered if anyone knew of if that sort of thing exsists for ipod's Toshiba HD?
i've tried googling it.... not going well.

Depending on the type of connector the hard drive uses, you're going to want either this or this.

thanks for the tip the HD in the ipod is connected by a ribbon to a 40pin connection if that helps?

Then you want the 40 pin ZIF adapter.

would i need a ribbon to connect the two as well do you think? otherwise i can't see how they would connect?

You should be able to use the same cable that would normally connect the hard drive to the iPod motherboard.
