i think you need to install the software that came with it. why did you get her a ipod of you didnt like there software and is it a nano?

Unfortunatly, you can only use iTunes to load the music. But what do you have against installing the software? The iTunes program is only 30mb, and if it comes off a CD there will be no viruses/adware. Is there some other reason you don't want to install it? Not wanting to install it sounds unreasonable to me.

Im not sure why your having a hard time with this, you install iTunes, and then select the songs you want to put onto your iPod with it.

Yes, you have to install Quicktime along with it. Theres no way around it. But all you have to do is uninstall it after iTunes is on there. No big deal.

just use quicktime. why dont you want to use it?

I have heard of installing linux on iPods. That would change the interface on the actual ipod some. I dnt know much about it. Google it.

You can use Winamp to load music onto her ipod. You of course need the correct pluggin.

I rather get an psp. you get online and play music on there.

A PSP of course is not nearly as convenient as a small mp3 player if all you want to do is listen to music.
