Is 4870 X2 better than 2x 4870

Hello,

I have read a few comments in some other forums. And some people agreed on fact that its better to get Two of 4870 (single core) than to get the X2 card.

What is your opinion I myself would go for the X2 card

If the cost was the same I would prefer a single 4870X2, as you only take up one PCI-E slot and doesn't require as much power as two 4870's.

why wouldn't one 4870x2 take as much power as two 4870? the x2 is just two 4870s put together. I dont think there are any performance differences either.

No, the 4870 X2 is ONE video card with two GPU's, it's not the same thing as say the 9800GX2 which is just two video cards together with a built in SLI bridge.

The X2 has lower latencies due to not having to go through the bus between gpus. It also uses less power. Its a better choice than 2 x 4870.
