Is Ad-Aware personal se better than microsoft antispy

Both are very good, but one may find things that the other doesn't. You can have both, as well as the other anti-spyware programs here.

when i clicked on the file once i had downloaded it f-secure said that broadcastpc had tried to accsess the internet is that ok

Personally I use Ad-Aware Personal SE but I've never tried Antispy. I use a combination of Ad-Aware + Spybot + Webroot Spy Sweeper.
