Is Adding 3D for my 15.6" laptop a waste of quality & Money?

My 15.6" laptop has blu-ray and software for 3D. Unfortunately to watch a blu-ray 3D DVD, I would have to get my Intel(R) HD Graphics [Display adapter] upgraded or replaced to get 3D and buy 3D glasses.

I'm wondering if this would be a waste given the 15.6" screen and having to sit so close to watch the picture. I'm very happy with my 34" & 48" HDTVs and won't buy a 3DTV until one of the other TVs stops working which I doubt as none of my TV Sets in the last 25 years has ever had a problem.

I personally think the whole 3D thing is just a hype. I doubt 3D would look great on a laptop screen as the refresh rate is probably rather low.
