Is an HDTV tuner in a computer a good thing?

I can't afford the computer I saw advertised with one, but I saw an accessory at Toshiba that you plug in and it ... I don't know what it does, but when I searched, "HDTV Tuner" this accessory came up. It was a LOT cheaper to buy the accessory than the computer that came equipped with an HDTV tuner...

So, what do you think?

Hello again :D
HDTV Tuners are basically good for wanting to watch tv through your computer.
So basically, it is up to you if you want that option.

Hi, :)

It's nice to see you. :)

I don't think I asked my question very clearly.

With a tuner accessory, you mean you could watch television like on a tv set but on a computer? What about an antenna?

Would you have to hook rabbit ears to your computer??????

Is that possible?

Well, no, I don't think you could hook rabbit ears up, but it is possible. I don't have any experience with that.
But I guess I should have stated this as well. With a tv tuner, you connect your cable/comcast/directv box up to the tuner card in your computer.
Then you are able to watch tv with that. Hope that answers your question better. :)

Oh.... OH.

thanks so much. I thought that if internet could come into a computer then tv could maybe come in with the tuner thing.

I'm so glad I asked. (I won't hanker after one, now.)

Thanks!!!!!!!

I think you can hook up an antenna is it a USB TV tuner or a PCI/PCI-E? or you could just go the cable/satellite route :)

You can. i have a pinnacle usb. size of a microdrive. supports HD if ya can get a good siginal. yesterday i was working in the garage all day. BAM! its hockey time. get sheet done too. has an antenna also or cable for coax. used for local news if out in the field only.
