Hey there everyone....I have an HP pavillion notebook which i bought in 2006 for school and i've loved it but have noticed it's not the best multi-tasker and now that i'm gonna be working, i need it to be faster and more efficient. I don't wanna buy a new computer cause it's running vista and i'm not a fan of it. so my question is this: can i install a intel core duo processor chip on my comp? I'm currently running an AMD 64 processor with 1gb of RAM and an 80gb hard drive...if i can upgrade to the Duo processor, what will else will i have to upgrade with it?

Well, AMD and Intel are two different companies/styles of CPUs, so if you want to run a C2D, you'll need a new Motherboard. Since it's a laptop...you're very limited to the point of it would be easier/cheaper to just buy a new laptop.

There are ways to speed up your system though. Have you ever performed a Disk Cleanup or Defragmented the HDD?

Get program like CCleaner and RegCleaner to wipe all the crap off your HD/Registry, run a spyware/malware/adware/virus/anythingelseyoucanthinkofscan and defrag. You should see a world of difference... I don't think it's even possible to change laptop CPUs, and even if it was you'd have to go with the same brand you've already got.

Some you can, some you can't. It depends on the type of CPU as well as the manufacturer. Most older ones = SOL; most newer ones = OK
