Is ipod safe

No.

But it's just common knowledge. The iPod has metal in it, it also has an electrical current flowing through it...just like almost ANY mp3 device. If you wear it in a rain storm...it's going to act as a conductor. It's not a GUARANTEED "I'm going to get hit by lightning", but it certainly doesn't HELP you any.

It might increase your chance while being outside by 0.0038942% (very scientific number ;)), but you should expose an iPod to rain anyway. If you're indoors, it doesn't matter...

Agreed... About the only dangers I could foresee would be if it was charging though a wall outlet or something... Which still, I wouldn't be afraid to use it if I had one...

I read that article and am thrilled. But there is still no proof that ipod can act as thunder receiver. All i want to know is,will it be safe to listen inside the house because the boy hit while he was outside.and may have been got hit because he was on the place where lightning was about to struck.

heh it was more of a joke, that kid just happened to be wearing his ipod when he got hit. bad luck for Apple now they have more bad publicity.

If you're inside, it's fine. Even outside, the chances are very slim. I personally wouldn't run electronics around me in a thunderstorm, I'd even leave my cellphone in the car just to be safe. But you should be fine...i'm just over precautios i guess.
