I am purchasing an Intel Q6600 quad core processor and was wondering if there were any other cpus out there that out perform it. I'm spending $280 and didn't see anything else within $100.
also does anyone have this processor and have they overclocked it. I plan on running it at 3.0GHz. does anyone have problems with it heating up.

Of corse there are processors that out preform it, but not within $100 of your price range, like you pointed out. If AMD's quad core (dec 2007) doesn't do too good, I'll probably go with the Q6600.

I just saw the predicted price for intels line-up in Jan 2008.
It looks like the Q9450 at 2.66 GHz, 12Mb of L2 cache, and 1333MHz FSB definately takes the cake. and at $316 Its only $40 more than the Q6600.

Does anyone have A link for future AMD CPUs?

Quote from intel...

"The Beat Goes on With 32nm Silicon Process Technology

Next up after Nehalem will be processors based on Intel’s upcoming 32nm silicon process technology. This next
tick in Intel’s rapid cadence of both silicon technology and microarchitecture innovation will further sustain Intel
product leadership. For our customers, it will mean remarkable performance and efficiency gains, features and
capabilities for years to come."

Does anyone know the predicted realese of thew 32nm processors
what about the performance and price.

thanks for the link.
definitely wont be waiting till 2009 for my next CPU. jan 08 I can live with.

ahaha you remind me of a quote that someone on 4chan replied with to someone asking for a good time to buy computer parts: "It's NEVER a good time to buy a gaming computer."

prepare to lose $100 or so within your first 6 months no matter what, but uh, performance wise i suggest you wait till january/feb.

Agreed, waiting a couple months is realistic. waiting longer means there'll always something on the horizon.
