Is it dangerous to move the power supply? Or disconnect it from hardware?

I have to move the power supply from its possition in the computer so i can get to my memory stick slots....
Is this ok? Or will it fry me?

Well as long as you move it while its off and you're not doing something obviously stupid then it's probably safe to move :)

I just found this : sony says you can move the psu....

As you can see, the psu is out of the unit in the diagram....

Also i wont open the psu or anything silly, and the power will be off, so is that ok?

Obviously silly = put the PSU on top of the CPU or something ('sides dont always trust them diagrams..)

no no, i mean takin the psu out and puttin ontop of the frame untill you have fitted the memory....

it says here :

'Rotate the power supply to an upside down position and rest it on top of the chassis where the hard drive is located.'

sony is for noobs, just fit the memory how u want as long as u r careful not much can go wrong. Moving the PSU is not dangerous, its like moving a bomb - i.e just be careful

Yes but "takin the psu out and puttin ontop of the frame" is not the same as "obviously stupid" :)

Before you bash, have a moment's notice for your ECS box.

Yes, you are able to take out the power supply if you need to, jsut make sure that it is unplugged, and try not to disconect the wires form any part of you computer so you dont worry about not getting it connected again. And you have no chance of getting fried unless you touch somethign inside the power supply. And putting it ontop of the computer frame is not dangerous. Just make sure theres no electricity going into it.
