Is it good?

Hi people, I've got a question. I want to buy a Ati Radeon HD2900GT with 256 MB. I can get one very cheap. Is this good, or should I search another card with more memory (wich will cost some performance due to my limited fortune)?

256mb is fast becoming insufficient, even on a 1280* modest resolution. Newer games like Crysis, WiC and CoD4 see this problem, and using AA just compounds the issue. In light of this, I'd say spring for a higher capacity card. The 3850, 9600gt, 8800gs are all relatively cheap, and I believe better than the GT.

at the lowest go for radeon 3850 and 8800GT it will be your best bet even the 9600GT its cheaper then the 8800 and almost as good not quite though.

But they're much more expensive. I can get them kinda cheap, but for such cards even the cheapest price is still expensive. I'll have to borrow 1/3 of the money from my father. But if you say it's a better option, so be it.

Now I need to know should I choose the HD 3850 512MB GDDR3 or the GeForce 9600GT 512MB DDR3. I can get them for the same price.
And are PCIe 2.0 and PCIe 3.0 backwards compitable?

See my new threads
