Is it possible to attach a hard drive and disk drive on the same IDE?

my motherboard only has 1 ide port, the sata drive is broke, and i need a drive to copy some files over to disk, is this possible?

Yeah, no problem. You can attach any two IDE drives on one cable, it doesn't matter if they are hard drive, CD drive, or otherwise.

Just make sure you set them by the jumpers on the back, harddrive to master, the DVD/DC drive to slave.
