Is it possible to make a LAN with 2 comps and nothing between?

If I just connect two computers, without a router or anything, will it be a LAN to play games and share stuff?

buy a piece of crossover cable(or make one).
plug it in.
manually set ips and subnets.
enable file and printsharing or whatever else you want to do.
enjoy.

Dont do anything, windows should make all that stuff for you automatically

If im not mistaken, Windows automatically has the filesharing enabled so you wont have to worry about that

If you do want to manually set the ips and subs:
1. Control Panel
2. Network Connections
3. Select the network connection and goto properties
4. Select Internet Protocol adn select properties
5. Select "use following"
6. Enter some numbers in
I dont think you have to do that though
