Is it possible to see what is on my friend's computer screen?

I'm no expert but I'm trying help a friend install/configure (and how to use) some software. Is there a way to see what's on his computer screen through my PC? He lives in another state.

It would be much easier to guide him if I knew in real time what was on his screen.

Look into a Remote Desktop connection.

GoToMyPC is a good remote desktop software

download the free version on both of your pc's.
have him run the server mode, you run the view mode.

he will have to give u his ip address, which VNC will tell him once he runs the program. you enter it into your VNC viewer, and your done.

you see it as if it was your own desktop.

if you do choose this, read up on the site, this is basically just the jest of it so you get an idea. very simple.

I think u can use msn to do that. Thats how it was couple of years ago, i dont know if they still have it.

If you want to do it without their knowledge, you can use either LogMeIn (free) or Access Remote PC (free trial). You can view or control their desktop, and you can make it so they dont know your looking at them

Thanks for the responses eveyone. I tried LogMeIn and it has worked out well for me and I'll check out all the others whenever I have the time.
