Hello,

I live in France and for the past three weeks, I've been going to a French forum.

Is it possible for the wembmaster of that forum to see my IP adress... and find out which websites I have been going to?

Is there such a tool, that you can just type in an IP adress and see where I have been going on the internet?

Thank you.

The only people who can see where you've been are the people who own the websites you've visited (statistics pages show who's visited their sites) and your ISP can see where you've been going. I doubt your ISP keeps that information around for very long if at all seeing as how there is a rather large volume of information what with the number of clients any given ISP supports. Anyway, there's no way for some dope out on the internet to track where you've been unless they have access to your network and such. The only other way is if you're running through a proxy, the people running the proxy will be able to see where you've been or what you're looking at.

The operator of that forum can't track you on the internet unless he also has access to the logs of the websites your visting.

anybody have a demo of a log file?

The person on the forum can only see what you've done on their site. As for your ISP, typically your primary and secondary DNS servers keep track of your frequently requested sites so they can retrieve said site for you more quickly rather than having to pass the request along to hierarchical DNS servers every time. That's not too much to worry about though, such caches aren't typically logged to a specific IP address not to mention they're cleared relatively often. So in all, you really don't have much to worry about. You should be more worried about what your ISP is looking at as well as what you type into google. In all honesty Google could potentially know everything from what your sexual fantasies are to where you like to shop for groceries. I'd be more afraid of them. ^_^

OK...

The reason I asked was that on this forum we play a game where someone posts the lyrics of an american / english song translated into in French... and everyone has to search for it's original title...

I translated a few words / bits of sentences of those lyrics back into English... added the keyword "lyrics" and searched it on google... which usually gave me the answer.

However... the webmaster of that small forum said that he had seen that some people were "cheating" (using the method I described)... and I concluded from that, that he was able to see where ezveryone had gone on the internet...

Am I just being paranoid?
