Is it possible?

i was wondering if anyone knows if it's was possible to have a video playing as a desktop background. not on any mediaplayer, just on the background, with the desktop icons over it...wouldn't that be cool?

I beleive WinTV's had the option to do something like that.

Now if you just meant some video file, I'm not exactly sure, but it must be possible if WinTV's could do it too ;P I just never bothered because it would get so distracting ;P

I know you can set an html file as a desktop background... and within the html file you can run a java applet. hmm...

Most TV tuner cards will alow you to stream TV as your desktop background so they may also be able to do it with a video clip too.
Try searching the FAQs of some TV Card manufactures websites... maybe shoot them an email.

I had a player like that - when you clicked minimize it would instead turn transparent and keep playing. I can't remember if it was a DVD player or Divx player. It might still be installed on one of my computers; I'll check when I get home.

I didn'r realise u cud do that. Anyhows, i do not believe its possible to play any old movie clip or what not. But try that HTML thing, that sounds like a cool idea.
