hey everyone, i just bought a amd 64X2 3800+ and when i click on the system specs it shows the computer only operating at 1.0GHz when its supposed to be running at 2.00GHz. The weird thing is to that somtimes when i check the specs again it will recognize the 2.00Ghz and other times it says 1.80GHz so whats up with that?? i thought that maybe one of the processors was shut off but i dont think that is even possible, do any of you guys know what might be up?

thanks jeremy

If you are running AMD Cool ' Quite then it will automatically lower your CPU speed to save engery and keep it cooler.(It will do this when your not doing anything CPU intensive.)

Do you know if you have it enabled?

When you restart you're computer press F2 or DEL until you come to a screen (usually blue with white text). Then look through the catagories until you find "Cool 'n Quiet", and it should say that it's enabled. So then change it to disabled and it should run at 2Ghz all the time.

However if you cant find out how to change it, it's not going to make much of a difference since it only downclocks it to 1Ghz when the computer doesnt need as much power.

It's really hard to say, since the AMD X2 line is far superior to it's Pentium D counterparts, but I would say something like the Pentium D 950 would be similar.
