Hey guys,
Just wondering, if I had a damaged stick of RAM and I used it on a new mobo with a new CPU, could the damaged RAM also cause damage to the new mobo/cpu? What about damaged video card, HDD, or sound card? Could any damaged (dead) component cause damage to a new mobo/CPU?

You cant use damaged ram. Thus it wont do anything
 
how many things are you gonna damage? your CPU is already fried :P lol
Anyways, damaged components usually will just quit working and shouldnt screw with anything else. damaged CPU can prolly damage the mobo though, i think. a damaged PSU will definitely break other things if something should go wrong.

Good question...Actually, it is just a precaution. I think my memory is fine, but I am getting a new mobo and CPU, so I just wanna make sure those are OK just in case something is broken. And the PSU is fine, because it was just the CPU that died. And when I turned my computer on, all fans and everything worked...

I would not install damaged RAM into my system. There is the possibility that it can short circuit the whole motherboard and burn up everything, including the CPU. The possibility is not that high, but it still exists. If you're the gambling type, well, take your chances.
 
I'm about 98% sure its not damaged. I was just wondering. Thanks for your input though, appreciate it.
