that unplugging your cable modem for awhile, then plugging it back in will give you a new IP address?

I have a PPoE Dynamic setup I believe for my DSL connection, and it changes everytime I restart the modem, and not until I do.unless they assign the IP by the MAC address of the modem, then cycling the power does nothing until the lease is up for the IP. It just depends how they set up DHCP. Typically a block of IPs is set to a range of MAC addresses that way they can monitor and track things better for quality control and that they are never short in handing out IPs.
