I built a "new" rig for myself last summer. It has an MSNV-939 mobo with an Athlon X2 3800+ running @ 2.0 GHz. I was just wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade the CPU to an Opteron such as This one or This one. If not, I'll just wait it out a little while longer until I come up with more money to upgrade to something a lot better.
The main reason is F.E.A.R. currently lags a fair bit at 1280x1024 on medium graphics, but Doom 3 runs like a charm on ultimate.
I usually use the computer for mostly gaming such as F.E.A.R, Doom 3, Prey, (gonna get COD4 soon) etc.
I also have a Visiontek Radeon X1650 Pro w/ 512 MB onboard RAM and 1.5 GB of system ram.
