I think the 6800GS is faster no? the only bad thing about the 6800GS is the Open GL is 1.5 . Does that matter?

Only in a technical sense, as it has a higher core clock. The 7800GT is a much better performer. As for whether it's worth $100, that really depends on your other specs, whether you have the money, and what you want to do with the card.

ok im plannin on gettin either AMD ATHLON 64 X2 3800+ with the 6800GS or a
AMD ATHLON 64 3700 with the 7800GT .

Which one would you get? and how come you have the 6600GT?

because some people dont care for playing games at 1600x1200 with full AA and AF



go with the GS, it will handle everything out there, and besides, you'll get better preformance out of a 6800GS+X2 then you would with a 7800GT+64, especially in newer multithreaded games

go with the X2 and 6800GS, you'd have better performance than a 3700+ with a 7800GT.

EDIT: And they have a eVGA 7800GT on newegg for $250.

7800GT is a better performer. I went from a 7800GS to a 7800GT and saw a nice boost and the 7800GT was only $10 more.
