is more pins faster?

cant find any socket 478 in the market anymore, all bnew processors now are like 775 or more pins, so my question is if you have a p4 3.0ghz socket 478 and p4 3.0ghz socket 775 or something is this more faster maybe in performance? whats the difference?

Eh...yes and no... It's not faster JUST because it has more pins. However, typically the newest processors do have more pins than previous models. The real difference, though, is the processor itself, not just the pins.

Also, different brands have different sockets. As you probably know, the Core 2 is faster than the Athlon 64. 775 pins > 940 pins
