Is my Chromebook battery dead?

Hi all. I have the ASUS C201 (granted, very old at this point), and I noticed lately that even after several hours of charging, the battery indicator is only showing like 10% or 20% or other low numbers.

The Chromebook turns on when it is plugged in, but even with a battery charge (currently it shows 50%), as soon as I unplugged the power cord, the Chromebook turned off.

Does this mean the battery just can't hold a charge anymore? Is the % indicator just wrong? Anything I can do other than replace it?
Thanks!

Usually batteries don't last much past a few years. If thats the original battery, then most likely its shot by now.
