I know a Nvidia geforce4 420 MX is old, but i was wondering if it could run HOh Pacific Assault. The "EAsy Info" program that came with the program said i needed a new video driver, and so i downloaded an update from nvidia. Then when i tried to run the game it said that my card doesnt support directx 8.1.
But the problem is that on the "Easy info" program it has a Green OK check by my video card. And even after i updated my driver, it still said i needed an update. Wat is up!! plz help

Do you have Direct X 9.0c installed? My Nvidia GeForce MX 100/200 was actually built for DirectX 7, but it works fine with Direct X 9.0c. I believe your card should work, despite lack of shaders/pure new power. I'm assuming you don't have any driver corruption, viruses, or spyware.

ok now i have three different nvidia drivers for the same thing i dont know f thats bad. By the way i have a dell computer and i downloaded the driver from there after i downloaded one form nvdia that could be my problem Plz Help!

When they said that your graphics card doesn't support DX 8.1, it probably meant the hardware. Happened to me back then before too, my graphics card was too old. So you'll probably need to get a new graphics card if you want to play it.

How so? even after installing over old drivers it basically overwrites the old but leaves some old files from the previous drivers usualy which is very bad. Always uninstall your old drivers before attempting to install new ones.

I'd suggest you goto this site http://www.driverheaven.net/ and download a program called Driver Cleaner, you'll run it after uninstaling your old video drivers and it works for chip sets etc.

One of basics of routine maintenance of a PC would be to update drivers now and again but it must be done properly.

thanks a lot! I fell stupod because im usually good about computers, but i downloaded driver and installed from nvidia. I didnt uninstall the old driver so i didnt know which was which. Ill try that website out and see if it works.

:-) we all make mistakes. I hope that works good for you. I use driver cleaner each time I upgrade my drivers and it's worked great for me. Dont forget to read the instructions over before using it.

well it looks like its still not working. I just dont get it. I followed the Driver cleaner insctrions. And the message always appears after strating MOH pacific Assualt: "Your card does not fully support directx8.1." It even gives a list of video cards that directx8.1 has been tested on.....and my card is on the list. WHAT CAN I DO BESIDES GETTING A NEW CARD!!! UUGHH i have a dell comp......just throwin that tidbit of info out there....
