I am a gamer and I just bought an Intel(before you start, I didnt know much about AMD, so i foolishly got an intel) Pentium 4 3.2 ghz w/HT and 1 GB of RAM, 1 mb L2 cache and a 6200 TurboCache graphics card. I am hoping I am hoping to play next-gen games on it like Unreal Tournament 2007 and Oblivion. If I upgrade my graphics to an X1800XT 512 mb and 2 GB RAM, will I be able to play next-gen with good FPS and medium-high settings?

no ati...

Um i would definatly go with a 7800gtx and if ur gonna go that big for a video card go with a 512 7800gtx instead it will run so much better and besides the pipelines are more impressive with the nvidia set-up is "right-now" better then ati's...

ok, i will get the gtx instead. But my question was, will it be able to run next-gen games(decently) if I do all of that upgrading?

The difference between the x1800XT 512MB and 7800GTX 512MB arent that great (about 300 points in 3DMark05), i would go with the x1800XT if you dont feel like spending an extra $300 on the 7800GTX. And you cant tell how good a card is by pipelines, because ATI makes up for it with its high clock speed, and the fact that its almost 512bit.
