is my cpu and gpu close to overheating?

I installed speedfan onto my computer and when I ran it, it shows that my cpu(c2q8200) has 3 cores over 50c and 1 core under 50c, my gpu however is at about 66c, are these temps too hot, if so, how can I cool it down a little bit?
 
They're a little hot, Yeah. How is the airflow in your case? Also, what CPU cooler are you using, I'm guessing the stock one?

The GPU is pretty hot, but they're pretty much good up to 90c. You could install Rivatuner and put the fan speed up, that'll cool it down.

Would be ideal if you could find some kind of middle ground with the gpu fan and the gpu itself. Like were is that sweet spot were both the card and fan die at about the same time. Increasing the fan speed will increase gpu life expectancy but then you have to consider a shortened fan life.
 
it's a brand new gateway, with a gt120(1gb) video card, 8gb ram, and c2q8200. I was running halo on it a little while ago and found out that the gpu stayed about the same even on it's highest settings. Halo is a little old, but I saw that the fan actually adjusts speeds to meet the needs of the gpu, it's some kind of "smartfan" technology. The gpu stays at about 66c to 71c, and the cpu cores go from 41c to about 61c. How high and low are the gpu and cpu temps supposed to be? I got that the gpu will go up to about 90c before it dies, but what about the cpu?

I'm guessing everything may be stock, but the fan seems to run very quietly, and the stock fans that I've used before are extremely loud.

Those temps are a little high, but nothing to be scared about. You have nothing to worry about unless the CPU temps start constantly hitting/going above 70c. Prebuilt machines tend to have crappy cases (airflow-wise) and the fact that they use stock cooling doesn't help either, those things run fairly hot by nature, but it's something the engineers do take into account. I'd say you have nothing to worry about.

Depends on the GPU. The older (=bigger transistors and all that jazz), the better they handle heat in general; the max safe temp is around 80C, going over that on a modern GPU is very, very bad in long-term (though it won't fry in a instant).
 
Wow, thats pretty hot for idles...
I really wouldn;t worry about the fans life span, becuase those things run for a while, But my 8400GS is rated @ 95c and i never go over 70c even after an hour of gameplay so your fine on the video card part, even though it should be around 48-60c on idle, so i would just crank up those fans, with speedfan... Hopefully that will help, if not, you sould get an aftermarket cooler, or something to bring those temps down. GL:)
