Is my CPU temp too high?

Hey guys, I have been doing some research into my CPU and Graphics card recently, and from what i have seen my temps are fairly high.

Im using a Q6600 OC'd at 2.6GHz with a Zalman CNPS 9500 cooler and Artic silver 5

these are the temps im getting:
cputemps2.jpg

if you cant read that:
Core 0:44c
Core 1:36c
Core 2:35c
Core 3:42c

That is idle with only iTunes and these programs running...

on top of the zalman I have 2 12cm and 1 8cm Fans in my case.

are these temps high? If so what can I do to bring them down? (Yes, I know no OC, but it hardly makes a difference to the temps)

any help will be much appreciated :D

thanks

Dave.

Those aren't bad temps at all. That's what I used to average in my old Cooler Master case.

try to max out your CPU (i use a couple instances of Orthos) and then check your temps after about 30 mins. Your temps should stay lower than 70C

is it only after 70c that I have to worry?

Well these CPUs can withstand some pretty hot temps but as a rule of thumb, I don't like mine to go above 70C when on load. your idle temp is not much of a problem 30-40C is fine, it is when the CPU is under stress when you need to make sure it doesn't get hot. Every CPU is different, the rated specs for a Q6600 is about 62C which is actually the case temp (not comp case but rather CPU casing), the actual core max temp is a bit hotter than that. Maxing out all cores with cpu burning software will actually get your CPU hotter than any real-life software possibly could so if your CPU stays under 65-70C under burning conditions then it will be completely safe under real world conditions.

cool cool, thanks for the help! :D

I have just been playing CoD4 for about 4 hours and my temps are ranging from about 45 - 58c... which im guessing isnt too bad... ?

i dont think those temps are bad but if you wanted to push the overclock further to maybe 3Ghz-3.2 then i think there would be a problem.

why not re-apply some AS5.

ill do it when i take my pc apart to clean it then.

what can I use to take the old stuff off? Last time I did it i just cleaned it up the best i could... I would like to try and do it properly this time though

Hmm, that means having to order something lol...

theres a PC shop down the road I might try there first...

ebuyer are good, but for things that cheap its best going to your local pc shop anyway because ebuyer charge like £7 delivery on most things so.
