Hi everyone, I have a huge pb with my laptop and I'm hoping that someone has a solution because I have no idea what to do... here is my problem :

I purchased a brand new (not factory refurbished) ASUS gaming laptop last september at bestbuy, and lately it's been shutting down for no reason when I play games (starcraft II), I tried to recover many times but it would even shut down while recovering. I got the recovery cd's from Asus to try to do a clean install, same problem.
I let it cool down and tried again this morning, it managed to recover windows but now it just keeps shutting down when I'm installing drivers.

I really don't know what to do and it's pretty frustrating because it's only 6 months old and I paid the big price for it.

thank you very much in advance...

do you have the laptop on your lap? or on a table

if its on your lap i would suggest putting it on a table, my gf's laptop does a similar thing when she has it on her lap for to long

I'm guessing that there is dust in the fan and heatsink that is trapping the heat. try getting the dist out with compressed air.

okay I think it is the problem (dog hair... don't jaugh ! :) )

can someone tell me how to open it up ? I removed all screws but it's not opening.. is there a special lock or something ?

I had to do something on a older dell, is there a VGA plug? That was getting in the way from me opening it.

laptops a really hard to get open. try blowing it out without opening it first. If that ddoes not work Google how to open (insert your laptop here). Take it slow. A lot of that you need to take off are clips and are easily broken.

if its shutting down like it is...i dont think that simply *cleaning* it will solve the problem, i dont recommend opening it as that will void the warranty, i would simply take it back to best buy, or contact asus, most of their laptops have a 1 year warranty on parts and labor, get them to fix it. its not your problem that their hardware is not holding up to expecttations, but you could try blowing it out yes.
