Is my MoBo's onboard audio better than an audigy?

Yeah, as a general rule sound cards produce better sound than onboard sound.

Unless it's an older sound card.

^- Agreed. Any PCI sound card can produce better sound, unless ou go in the old ISA section.

Personally, I have a SB Live! and it's really making the system go crasy. BSODs everywhere. So, I'd just recommend you to get drivers off Creative's site. Great cards, poorly designed drivers.
