I been trying to figure this problem out this lass week. Well I been leaving my comp. On overnight and one day I was planning on using it, when I noticed it was turned off. I thought someone else I the house turned it off so I thought nothing of it. So I tried to turn on the comp. nd all it did was turn on for about 5 seconds then turn itself off. So I just unplugged it and left it alone for a few days. After a few days I went back to check on the computer, but this time it actually stayed on but the monitor, keyboard, and the mouse wasn't working. The keyboard lights will flash at start up but after that I can't get it to do anything. The monitor and the mouse will work on another computer but not this one. But yea so does this have anything to do with the mother board???! Do I need to replace it?

your keyboard and mouse is a usb or ps2?

if usb, maybe your usb port on mobo is the problem. i dun know it dead or what.

your monitor show/got display or not? your say it stayed on but not working.
if show, the problem on your keyboard and mouse or can be on your mobo usb port.

Try resetting the cmos by unplugging power from the case, then remove the cmos battery from the motherboard, then press the power button on the case a few times to discharge power and then wait a few minutes. Then reinsert battery, reconnect power and try booting up.

My keyboard is a ps2 and my mouse is a USB. An with the monitor I said it works in another computer but when I connect it to this one nothing happens. It doesn't power on with the comp no more. And I was gonna try to reset the CMOS and so since you recommend it, I'm going to reset it now and let you know the results.

Took out the battery for about 10 minutes and still no hope. They thing it does is turn on for about five seconds then turn off. The keyboard flashed as usual but the comp did. Stay on long enough for me to see if it works. But I tried again and it stayed on longer but the same results. The only beeps I'm receiving from my comp is a low beep that last for about a second.
