Playing Metro 2033 and my PC switched itself off instantly, then booted up again, no noise, no sound, no smell - it proceeded to load up the BIOS splash screen and then the screen went to a luminescent black, then my HDTV said "No video available"
This happened before and it stumped me but I managed to fix it by using a VGA monitor to go into BIOS after resetting it, then proceeding to use a DVI-to-HDMI adaptor instead of straight HDMI - but THIS TIME, nothing seems to work and I'm really hoping I can pin the problem to my motherboard so I can do a bit of anger management 101 given the weeks of stress it's caused me
So after what I tried last time didn't work, I took out the video card and tried my old 9800GT which worked last time, then the RAM and checked for beeps, no beeps at all, disconnected the disk drive and HDD and still nothing, it just powers on then powers off after about 5 seconds then repeats until I manually turn it off with no screen recognition, regardless of whether I use the mobo HDMI or VGA (the VGA monitor stays in standby mode when connected, but as soon as I disconnect the VGA so it's on but no signal, it powers up with a colour test so the monitor itself is responsive and fine).
All help, knowledge, experience and advice appreciated
Pete
