Is OCing necessary?

Did your card ever show up? How is the system working?

Gabe you won't believe it. STILL no video card, they are torturing me. Provantage got 5 in stock but i guess i wasn't 5th on the list or higher so i didn't get one. I'm waiting for their next shipment which is supposed to arrive late next week which it probably won't because ati is limiting this thing hard core. I contacted a local supplier who said they would have had them this week on wednesday, they didn't arrive.

Its like trying to catch air.

And with the OC stuff, I could do some down the road but for now i think my system is going to do just fine with all the games i play.

That sucks. I do not think you need to OC the i5. If you do report back what you find. I am up in the air if I will OC my i5.

I am changing to make my i5 rig my gaming rig. After talking to EA they say there are problems with their games and the i7. They had me turn off 6 of the 8 cores and resolve some problems but it also made the games slower. They say the i5 does not have the same issues. The problems were very minor but why have any glitches when playing?

My local store demos a custom comp with an i7-920, GTX-275 and NFSS and it had the same glitches when I played. I don't think most are as picky but I do not see them on my i5 now that I am using it for games.

Good info gabe.

I said screw it to the 5970 and threw down $50 more bucks for 2 5870s in Xfire. Just wasn't worth the wait anymore when i am going to be able to get my hands on them this week.

Wish i would have done it sooner.

I was talking to a guy who does a lot of PC building and he said i should probably end up clocking my cpu but not the gpu's. He's gonna help me do it to 3.2ghz i think. I wanted to see what you guys thought about running my cpu to 3.2ghz on the stock cooler.
