My dad is buying me a lap top for graduation and he said only dell lol so he built it for me and this is the video card that it has ...

Inspiron E1505, Intel Core Duoprocessor T2350 (2MB/1.86GHz/ 533MHz)
Inch UltraSharp TrueLife Wide-screen WXGA+ for Inspiron6400/E1505

1GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm for Inspiron 6400/E1505

256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1400 HyperMemory, for Inspiron 6400/E1505

Actually the x1400 performs surprisingly well for a mobility graphics card. I'm able to play CSS on full settings with anywhere from 30-90FPS, but it averages in the mid 40's range. I was also able to play Painkiller on near max settings with very little problems, though the game did run a bit smoother on lowered settings.

With ATI Catalyst Control Center, you can pretty much make the card do whatever you want in terms of performance or quality. Also it's a lot better than the GeForce Go whatever that's the other option for the 1505.

Now, I wouldn't run FEAR on it maxed out by any means, but I don't think you'll be disappointed.

HL2 and CSS are not so demanding. I can Max them with my old geforce 6600

I'm pretty sure that even FX5700 can play Painkiller on high settings. It is an ancient game.

Why you don't try to play games like oblivion and rainbow six vegas ?

There's no doubt that its a good video card. I've got one in my custom laptop and I've got Doom 3 playing at 23 frames per second. Its really good quality, so I'd be thoroughly happy with it. The games you are trying to play really aren't taxing at all, so maybe visit your local video store and rent Doom 3 for PC, and check out what the card can really perform to.

Well, I was just providing examples of what it's capable of (not that those are high standards). I wasn't trying to say that it works miracles.

The x1400 is a great mid-ranged graphics card for laptops. It allows me to play the newer games around low-medium settings at a high framerate. I play alot of CSS and it runs great on it.
