i would get a new power supply and maybe 2GB of ram if you do alot of video editing. Now the AMD 64 wont be the fastest cpu at video editing, but it should do pretty good, but it will do EXCELLENT in games.

Western Digital Caviar 7200RPM 200GB FDB 8MB
For video editing i might suggest a RAID configuration or if not, to get something like this which has 16MB of cache :)

so you think its ok preator
Well can you elaborate on ‘play a lot of games’ and ‘video editng’? :)

wat more can i say i mean play a lot of games do bit of video editing lol but u think it will run ok
You could for starters list some examples of applications and games. Just because you play a lot of games doesnt mean u need a fancy videocard for instance.

half life 2
doom 3
counter strike source
unreal tornament 2004
far cry
video editing
adobe priemier pro
pinnacle studio 9
adobe elements

lol then was there a need to question him on that? :P

a definite need. what if the only games he wanted to play were all developed in the 1980's? and what if his video editing was old school too? a cheap vid card and mediocre processor would have been fine, it's still lots of games and video editing.

Why are you going with an SLI board? I would suggest a "standard" socket 939 board and take the extra money and get higher quality RAM.

It has been speculated that SLi is NOT the way of the future, and infact dual core/dual GPU chips are. so future proof might not be 100% correct lol. With only around a %60-70 performance increase, SLi's efficiency isn't quite up to par with a real dual core/dual GPU card. But right now there are no plans to scrap SLi i don't think...so it's not a bad idea to get it if you can afford it.

if a computer can run doom 3 and HL2 then it would definitely be able to run any game developed in the 1980s. and i may be wrong but in the 1980s i dont remember there being any games that would run on windows, unless youre talking about emulating.
