so i have an i7 930 and im run my ram @ default speed 1600. my friend is telling me that im overlocking my ram because i7 controller run the ram @ 1066, but i have g.skill 1600 ripsaw ram. so am i overclocking my ram?
is running ram @ 1600 overclock?

No, your RAM is not overclocked.
By default, the Core i7 settings run RAM at 1066, the maximum supported by Intel.
Due to the Core i7 QPI, you're basically overclocking your processor to run the RAM at it's default speed.
