I remember someone telling me that LCD computer monitors are much better for the eyes than the old ones(don't know what they are called the one that looks more like a tv). is that true? my eyes were perfict occording to my doctor. but after having my first computer with old monitor for about 1 and half years, I can't even see my tv screen clearly when setting only 2 and half metters away. now 3 years later my eyes can't hardly see people's face when they are like 4 metters away. SO i got one of these antiglare thing and putted it infront of my screen. do these antiglare thing work? I noticed that my screen look darker after putting it on. should I just get one of these LCD screens? or it is on to use the old one with the antiglare? which one is better for the eye? LCD or old monitor with antiglare?

EDIT- ya I have glasses.

Is it a CRT monitor? If it is, then yes, they are hard on the eyes. LCD's are way better if you want to keep your vision crisp.

Keep your vision crisp LOL, that's a bit late for me, though my vision has improved just a tad since I went to my LCD ;)

Anyway, CRTs work with hertz. Basically, the screen is being redrawn constantly. That's why your hand looks funny when you wave it infront of your screen :P A LCD, on the other hand, just changes pixel by pixel. Probably with LCD's is that they're so freaking BRIGHT! But still, better for your eyes over all. I certianlly can tell my eyes don't feel nearly as stressed anymore.

I like CRT's better for some reason, brighter and it just seems better for games. And the max res is alot higher than LCDs

I've been using my good ol' CRT for almost 8 years now (60 Hz refresh...eek), my face is maybe 4 inches from the monitor at all times, and my eyesight hasn't degraded much at all (although it just might be that my eyes are really tough). I once tried using an LCD from maybe 1.5 feet away, and I started to get a headache. It may be entirely person-to-person, or I may just be some kind of freak...I vote the former, but many would vote the latter.

If you spend a lot of time in front of the monitor especially in the dark, then i would think that the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is much better for the eyes than the older CRT monitors (Cathode Ray Tube).
