Is the performance difference "huge" between these 2 asus notebooks?
1)

nVidia GeForce GT310M 1GB w Optimus Technology VRAM VGA

500 GB 5400 rpm HDD

as far as I see the only difference is in the CPU, is this difference noticeable if all the other components are the same, and what should be the price difference between the notebooks regarding the difference in CPU
 
Well yeas i see only the cpu difference, and, if the i5 is 4 cores, than you would see the difference, most i5 are 4 cores, (2 physical and 2 virtual). the price should be around 10/20% more, but some times they do have very similar prices. hope this helps.
 
I thought that the i5's in notebooks are dual core hyperthreaded, like the i3's. It should still be faster though, because of Turbo Boost.
