Is the video card or the monitor

My video card is an FX5200 and i just got an Acer 22" Widescreen AL2216W. The reviews for this monitor are good but i have a problem.

I like to watch videos of shows like Peter Gabriel and others but it seems that the close ups are fine but when the camera view is from far from the stage everything seems to be fuzzy.

I'm wondering if it's the video card or the monitor. All my shows are from the store, no copies, and plays well on tv but not on my computer.

I've been trying some configuration with the NVidia control panel, the Power DVD settings but still no luck.

Any suggestions ?

I agree it's probably the video. Kind of reminds me of HD channels. I was watching some basketball games on my LCD TV. It's broadcasting at full 1080 and looked brilliant when there was no motion. However, as soon as there was any movement, everything blurred horribly. Typical compression/motion blur, I'm afraid.

Why get a new one when the card is perfect for what he need's to do, and the problem has already been answered?

I also say its the Video Quality, try running a DVD to see if the same problem occurs

But he wants good quality for this.... he will eventually want to go out and buy a new one!

Fair Enough, I recon that card woul be up to the job though tbh, but if theres cash lying around he can go for it :P

You'll very rarely, if at all be able to see the difference in motion image quality with a pre-rendered video, Gaming is a whole nother' matter.

One thing that would be benefited is Vista's Aero interface, if thats being used at all.

This card would only struggle if you're running HD, which the Op has not yet specified, plays a pretty important role so I guess he isn't.

IMO I would try a DVD like suggested earlier & Post back.:)

As i mention in the post, it's with the DVD's that i'm having problems. They are originals but it seems that i can not get a good view of what is happening on the stage when the camera is far from it. The close ups are perfect....so i don't understand what is going on.

I don't play games, on YouTube i can see the videos without problems, all that i can see either from My Computer or on the Internet is clear and without fuzziness so i'm only wondering if there is a problem somewhere that i should be aware of.

Thanks again for the replies :)
