Ever since we have had our home phones I have been convinced that they suck. Don't get me wrong, we dropped nearly $90 on the 6.0Ghz Uniden 4 handset set which I assumed would be a sound investment, but low and behold they are constantly crippled by a terrible fuzz and static that makes them useless for anything longer than a 5 or 10 minute phone call.
Anyway,
Sunday I was on the phone with windstream trying to resolve a round of xbox 360 networking woes when one of the techs had me unplug the modem...
Voila!
No more noise! Then plugging it back in brought the noise back which I can only describe sounds like a cat and a rabbit having sex in a bin of scrap newspaper. So this leads me to believe the dsl is the issue. We only have two devices that use the phone jack and they both have the line conditioners (or adapter things) on them that windstream gave us but I was curious if maybe these were the issue. Do they make a BETTER line conditioner or something that would solve this issue? Or are we doing something wrong that I'm not aware of? My brother has the exact same setup as me and their phones sound crystal clear, so what gives?
