i might only be able to afford a 7950gt instead of a 8800gts is there a major differnce between these cards because on tom hardware i looked at the comparison between these 2 cards and they wernt to much of a differnce

also does a 7950gt 512mb or 8800gts have bettergraphics then a xbox360/ps3 xbox i believe has a ati r500 and ps3 has a nvidia 7 series

All os them will run DX10. But the newer models coming out will require DX10. I'm ready running Vista which comes with 10 included on the older Radeon card here. The R500 series is supposed to be the mobile line coming out for laptops/notebooks with the R600s for desktops. The gaming systems will see R500 chips made by IBM not ATI as described in the article seen at http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=24539

ill get the 8800gts 640mb,i have a xbox 360 and yes the graphics re good but since this card cost same as the whole system does any one know if it is same or better or alot better then xbox 360

I don't really think PC graphics cards can be fairly/accurately compared to the graphics of a game console such as the Xbox 360

Yes...The problem comparing the two is that a console can devote much more of it's horsepower to the game, where a computer has to deal with Windows AND the game...

Generally with your gaming systems you will find a lower screen resolution there. The signal for tv is also processed differently then you would expect with the standard vga output from a card on your pc.

I'll be waiting to see NVidia's response to the new lineup of Radeon R600 series cards coming out sometime. The early reviews point at some of those topping the 8800 series altogether. Besides the 8800s there are still the 8600s for cost saving.
