Is there a good netbook for me?

I always prefer netbooks to regular sized laptops due to the size and comfort. With that being said, netbooks obviously run slower. The two areas where it gets to me are:

1. When I use skype, my girlfriend/friends have trouble seeing me clearly. Skype or whatever I'm using notify me that my connection is slow, which is the cause of the trouble.

2. Being able to handle some HD stuff. I have a lot of HD movies on an external hard drive, and my netbook can't play them without them being incredibly choppy and what not. Also, say for example I'm streaming a live UFC show or sports game, it is choppy, likely because the stream is such high quality.

Does anyone know of a netbook or small laptop that is really good in terms of speed and being able to watch these HD movies? Thanks.
 
What is your budget for it? The new netbooks/laptops can even handle some mid end gaming. Movies/Streaming wont cause much problem.
 
I don't really have a budget; I'm just not sure if I could see myself spending over $400 for one. I got my Toshiba netbook exactly a year ago. I'm satisfied with it, but it cannot run an HD movie for its life, and doing webcam isn't that great on it.
