Is there a high possibility that my system unit will crash if I overclock?

:)i am likely to overclock my videocard (NVIDIA) on my vista, but i'm hesitating for the reason that I may destroy my video card's performance, even system's performance. and i've tried to overclock it using nTune but doesn't work out. What should I do? suggestions/recommendations are open.

overclocking obviously means playing around with your system with fire , if you overclock with wrong values you will surely land up some where u dont want..

Over clocking isn't that bad as long as you scan for artifacts regularly when overclocking,as soon as some appear you drop the over clock down a little until you find your stable over clock.

Riva tuner lets you overclock, some cards have their own utility to do this.

Ati tool will let you scan for artifacts :)

Be sure to watch those load temps too though.

What Nvidia card are you trying to over clock? And why didn't Ntune work out?
