Hello!
I suspect that one of my friends sent me a keylogger. I'm wondering is there any method to find out if there is a keylogger in my computer or not?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

Keylogger is a form of sypware and the only way to know is to use some antispyware to remove this.

I recommend using SPYBOT's Search and Destroy and I been using it for the past two years and giving me satisfactory results. This program is free and here is the download site:

I use both Spybot S&D, and Malwarebytes.. both are excellent programs, and I recommend trying both out.

But I've heard that antispyware doesn't notice a keylogger if it is made by yourself. Antispyware will discover only common keyloggers. And if you make a keylogger then it is unique and antispyware will not see it. Is it true or not? :(

Security programs will generally use two methods of detection. Signatures (detecting known malware) and Heuristics (detecting malware based on what it does). In any case, it is unlikely that your friend wrote a keylogger himself, if he sent you one it is more likely that he used a commercial program. The HijackThis log will should identify it in either case.

Please post the requested logs.

If you wanna figure out if you have a keylogger download Clamwin it doesn't get rid of viruses but it detect's everything where it is and such.
