Is there a piece of software to tell power usage?

Pretty much exactly as the post says, i am wondering how much my system is drawing and was thinking if there is a piece of software that can tell me.

I have found a couple but all work off old systems, and as i dont have a 6 series video card or p1-4 processor, i can't relly use em

Sorry my friend, software would not be able to give you this information, the hardware does not measure these paramerters. You need a power or amp meter. Try your local electronics store, they should have something to resolve your problem.

I don't know about software, but if you want to go hardware, many large battery backup systems display the wattage information as well. The only downside is they cost quite a bit and will only work accurately if you only have the computer plugged into it. It's always good to have a battery backup though.

You can usually pick up an adapter thing that plugs into the powerpoint/wall socket and you plug your computer into that. I got one and it had a little screen on it that showed the wattage and all sorts of stuff about how much power was being used. You could also enter how much you paid for electrcity.

My computer setup including monitor and speakers used up around 175 watts idle and 215 or so when gaming if I remember correctly. My computer would cost around 20 cents a day to run I think. Although this was 6 months ago so I cant remember all the figures correctly.

But you should be able to pick something like that up from an electronics store.

Alright then thanks for the info.

These wall socket things that display the wattage coming out, prices etc, how much do they cost? And i am right in thinking that you plug that into your wall socket and the adapter has another socket which you plug your computer or socket board into?

I'm not sure how much they are. In Australia I'd guess that they were around $20. Probably will be US$10-15. Although could be cheaper. I'm really not sure.

The device plugs into the wall socket and you can then plug your powerboard into that. Here are some pictures to explain it:

thanks for the post omega but i am in the UK so can't use newegg and also the prices will be different even if converted properly because of where they are made and therefore airmiles and stuff

What happened to my post? I posted 2 pictures, one showing it being used with power cords and everything. Notice I said "here are some pictures". I know the second one was there when I posted it... ah well.
